What do I need to bring to class?
If it's your first class, we recommend wearing athletic wear such as shorts or joggers and a t-shirt. If you plan to continue wrestling, we strongly advise investing in at least a pair of wrestling shoes to protect your feet from mat burns and improve your grip. Additionally, we recommend bringing water to stay hydrated.
Where do you train?
We wrestle at two separate locations near Bournemouth. Please refer to the timetable for the exact locations and timings.
Do I need to know any wrestling before coming to class?
No, we have a wide range of people at different levels in the class. Some compete, some do it as a hobby, and everyone has to start somewhere!
What can I expect from my first class?
The general format of the class includes a team warm-up, such as jogging around, followed by technique drills with a partner. Afterwards, there will be live wrestling with a partner or a "king of the mat" format, where the winner stays on.
Do I have to spar in class?
No, no one is forced to do anything they don't want to. However, in order to maximize the benefits of the training, we encourage people to participate in as much of the class as they can manage. Wrestling also offers the distinct advantage of being purely grappling without any striking involved, so there's no need to worry about head trauma or black eyes.
